Heaton & Abbott New Single

Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott release the second single from their Number One album.

Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott have re-recorded a previously unreleased version of a track as their second single from from album Manchester Calling.

The track was re-recorded to feature more of Jacqui’s voice.

Manchester Calling is the duo’s fourth album and recently reached Number One in the UK.

It’s Heaton’s fourth Number One album of his career and his first for 21 years but it’s the duo’s first together.

They’re no strangers to the top of the charts though; as members of the Beautiful South they reached the No 1 slot in the album chart three times with Carry On Up The Charts: The Best Of (‘94), Blue Is The Colour (’96), and Quench (’98), so it is just over 21 years since they last topped the charts.

As is Paul Heaton’s habit the lyrics were written in various locations in North Holland and Belgium while the music was composed in a hotel in Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria and in Limburg An Der Lahn in Germany.

The pair recently announced two special gigs especially for NHS workers. “The Coronavirus pandemic should remind everyone, and let no-one forget, that our National Health Service is the most brilliant and significant institution in our lives,” said Heaton.

“The men and women who serve us and care for us, give us hope and sacrifice for their own wellbeing, can never be thanked enough. We are just musicians, so there is little we can do but sing for you.

“By way of appreciation, we announce the following gig for all the frontline NHS staff. From the porters, the cleaners and the drivers, to the doctors and the nurses; thank you,” he said.

Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott have announced a free concert for all NHS frontline and auxiliary staff to take place at the 9,000 capacity Nottingham Motorpoint Arena on Tuesday 13th October 2020 and the SSE Arena, Wembley on Thursday 15th October 2020.

The new single A Good Day Is Hard To Find is on the Palm Tree Radio New Music Playlist and is in high rotation on the station now.
